U.S. Mens Curling Team Wins First Olympic Gold Ever

The U.S. mens curling team defied the odds in Pyeongchang on Saturday to claim their first gold medal ever, beating Swedens No. 1-ranked team and Canadas three-time gold medalists to win the title. John Shuster, who led the mens curling team in the last four Winter Olympics, delivered a perfect 5-point shot to clinch a 10-7 victory against Sweden, just days after the team was on the brink of elimination following a loss to Norway. Tell you what it was a lot of fun, Shuster told NBC News after the game. And that's where the week changed for us and changed for me was to allow myself to go out there and enjoy it and let the work show through. Holy cow, he said. Shuster and his four teammatesTyler George, Matt Hamilton, John Landsteiner, and Joe Polowore gold medals for their first time ever on top of the podium Saturday. They were accidentally given womens medals at first, though Olympic organizers promptly fixed the mistake.
